Hi, I'm Sapna Shah (more about me below). I founded Retail X Series in 2017 as a monthly boot camp for early stage, retail-related startups and founders as they launch their businesses. It has since become an ecosystem for retail and consumer startups in New York and elsewhere. Think of Retail X Series as your "Retail 101," a platform that's relevant for preeseed and seed stage startups in the retail tech, ecommerce, DTC, marketplaces consumer brand and consumer tech verticals.  Retail X Series content is focused on entrepreneurs learning from other founders, retailers and investors. NOTE: Retail X Series is not associated with RetailX/Retail Innovation Conference.

Sapna Shah

Founder of Retail X Series

Sapna Shah is an angel investor, retail expert and three-time entrepreneur. Through Red Giraffe Advisors, she makes early-stage investments in sports, specifically, in three verticals within sports: women's sports (teams/leagues), fan engagement and sports as community. She previously invested in startups in the retail and consumer sectors.  She has a particular focus on startups that have female and/or underrepresented founders, and invests only in US-based companies. Sapna serves on the Board of Directors of the NY Tech Alliance.

 

Previously, Sapna co-founded Retail Eye Partners, an independent Wall Street equity research firm. Sapna also co-founded a menswear e-commerce retailer, Mind the Chap. Prior to Retail Eye Partners, Sapna held executive strategy roles at Linens 'n Things, Inc. and at Ann Taylor, and spent time at Gap, Inc. Previous to her career in retail, Sapna worked in investment banking at Punk, Ziegel & Knoell and in credit at Morgan Stanley.

 

Sapna holds a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School as well as a B.A. in East Asian Studies from the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania.  She received her M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.
